Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital

Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital for patients who need hospital care on a longer-term basis, such as patients with the following:

  • Difficulty transitioning off a ventilator
  • Stroke or heart attack symptoms that require prolonged care
  • Multi-system comorbidities
  • Complicated wounds or an ostomy procedure
  • Need for transitional care after discharge from the intensive care unit (ICU)

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare

The award-winning Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system, also known as Methodist Hospitals of Memphis, was established in 1918 and has the distinction of being Tennessee’s largest provider of services to patients who are uninsured or covered by TennCare/Medicaid. 

Methodist Hospitals of Memphis have been nationally ranked by U.S. News as number six in Tennessee and number two in Memphis. They are high performing in nine procedures and conditions.

Methodist University Hospital

Methodist University Hospital is a 583-bed facility and the largest, most comprehensive hospital in the Methodist Healthcare system. It also serves as a major academic campus and the principal teaching hospital of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

This hospital is a recipient of the Women’s Choice Award in Bariatrics, Cancer Care, and Obstetrics. This hospital’s data contributed to the high rankings awarded to Methodist Hospitals of Memphis by U.S. News.

Methodist South

Methodist South is a 156-bed full-service community hospital located in Whitehaven. Established over 40 years ago, Methodist South serves South Memphis and the surrounding area. 

Methodist South Hospital has received the following honors:

  • An “A” grade for safety by the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade: a measurement of how well hospitals protect their patients from medical errors, injuries, and infections, with A being the highest possible score
  • This hospital’s data was used by U.S. News to assign Methodist Hospitals of Memphis their high ratings

Methodist North

Methodist North is a 246-bed full-service community hospital in Northeast Shelby County that serves Raleigh/Bartlett, Frayser, Millington, and Tipton County. 

Methodist North Received a B grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which is still considered a high score. This hospital’s data was also used by U.S. News when tabulating the rankings for Methodist Hospitals of Memphis.

Regional One Health

Established in 1829, the Regional One Health system is Tennessee’s oldest health-care system. Regional One facilities specialize in caring for the most challenging cases, including traumatic injuries, severe burns, and high-risk pregnancies. The Regional One Health system boasts the following distinctions:

  • The program through which more than half of Tennessee physicians receive their training 
  • Home of the Firefighters Burn Center, which is the only burn center in the four-state region that is verified by the American Burn Association
  • Home of the Elvis Presley Trauma Center
    • One of the busiest trauma centers in the United States
    • The only Level I trauma center in the Mid-South
  • Responsible for saving the lives of 55,000 babies born from high-risk pregnancies
  • Rated as a top workplace for four years

The Region One Health system includes Regional Medical Center, Extended Care Hospital, and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Workers’ compensation regulations have strict requirements for determining who qualifies for workers’ compensation. In Missouri, your employer must carry compensation insurance if it employs five or more workers.

Employers in the construction industry must have insurance regardless of the number of employees. 

According to Missouri’s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, certain workers are not eligible for workers’ compensation insurance. These include:

  • Independent contractors
  • Domestic servants
  • Farm laborers
  • Employees covered by another insurance scheme

Even if it has fewer than five employees, your employer may still choose to carry workers’ compensation insurance. If it does not, and you are injured, you are permitted to file a civil claim against it. However, employers that carry insurance are exempt from civil claims.

Extended Care Hospital

Regional One’s Extended Care Hospital is a 30-bed facility for patients who need specialized, high-observation care on a longer-term basis than a typical hospital stay. The average stay is 18 to 35 days, and all the rooms are private. The following services are offered:

  • Ventilator management
  • Wound care
  • Therapy services
  • Disorders of consciousness program with therapists certified by the Brain Injury Association of America

Rehabilitation Hospital

Regional One’s Rehabilitation Hospital is a 23-bed inpatient facility with attractive, spacious rooms. It accepts medically stable patients who are referred by health-care providers or self-referred, with or without prior hospitalization. Eligible patients must be able to tolerate 15 hours per week of therapy. This facility offers the following services to adults and adolescents:

  • Comprehensive medical rehabilitation
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Brain injury

The Rehabilitation Hospital has been awarded accreditation by the following agencies, which required strict quality standards to be met:

  • Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International (CARF)

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

This 255-bed pediatric teaching hospital was established in 1952 and is an academic partner with the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. The staff of approximately 750 pediatric specialists can diagnose and treat even the most challenging and complicated injuries and illnesses in children.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is the area’s only Level I pediatric trauma center and the only hospital in the region with a full staff of pediatricians available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This hospital treats 80,000 children from 79 Tennessee counties annually, plus 15,000 through community outreach programs.

Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital

The Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital is part of the award-winning Baptist Memorial Health system. It shares a campus with its flagship hospital, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis.

Since its establishment in 1962, the overall survival rate for children’s cancer has increased from 20 to 80 percent. Patients from around the world seek treatment at the facility.

Most patients are treated on an outpatient basis to help children experience a sense of normalcy as they undergo treatment. St. Jude’s accepts challenging cases that have not responded well to standard treatment. 

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital bills insurance but never parents. The hospital provides for housing, travel, and meals during treatment. St. Jude’s relies on donations, and $0.82 of every dollar received benefits the patients.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)

The VAMC in Memphis is a teaching and research hospital with over 200 beds and is affiliated with the University of Tennessee and accredited by the Joint Commission and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The Memphis VAMC is a leading VA health-care provider in the Mid-South region.
