Please, so if you get an unfavorable decision in Social Security, you have 60 days to appeal it to the Appeals Council. What we do in that instance, is write a brief to the appeals council about what the judge may have done incorrectly or made an error of law. The Appeals Council then reviews all the documents and issues a decision. It can either be remanded back to the hearing judge, or it can be dismissed, or the Appeals Council may grant it – which is rare. But, I have gotten one of those.
