R. Benjamin Weathers is the leading advocate and chair of NST’s Social Security Disability Advocacy Practice Group.

Born and raised in Liberty, Mississippi, Mr. Weathers completed his undergraduate studies at William Carey University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Marketing and Management. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law and graduated cum laude. In law school, Benjamin received the Mississippi Bar Trusts and Estates Section Scholarship and served as the site coordinator for the VITA tax preparation site.

Mr. Weathers is licensed to practice law in Utah and Mississippi. Prior to joining Nahon, Saharovich, & Trotz, he owned his own practice in Liberty, Mississippi, which focused on social security disability. He also served as municipal judge for the town of Liberty. He then worked with a large Mountain West personal injury firm, where he led their award-winning Disability Advocacy Group.

As an attorney, Mr. Weathers has specialized in helping individuals obtain Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income. He has represented over a thousand individuals before the Social Security Administration all over the country. Mr. Weathers also assists individuals who have previously been awarded Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits retain those benefits when Social Security stops payment of those benefits.

If someone suffers from serious medical conditions that prevent them from working, they may be entitled to benefits from the Social Security Administration. Unfortunately, to obtain these benefits, one must navigate the complex, long, and overwhelming disability process. This involves filing an application with the Social Security Administration, completing Social Security forms, and potentially having to file appeals and attending a disability hearing before a Social Security Administrative Law Judge. Often it can take years for a case to be decided. Mr. Weathers can help guide you through this long process by providing honest, direct, and compassionate advice.

Despite public perception, it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain disability benefits. The standard of disability varies depending on your age, education, and work history. As a general rule, you must have a serious medical condition(s) that prevents you from being gainfully employed for 12 consecutive months and medical evidence to support your claim of disability.

Competent representation by a skilled lawyer will help you build the best possible case based on your individual situation and present that evidence to Social Security on your behalf. The majority of individuals who file and are approved for benefits must attend a disability hearing. At this hearing Social Security may hire experts to testify. Mr. Weathers has the experience, knowledge, and skill to represent you at disability hearings. He will advocate for you and ensure you are prepared to testify.

If you want a committed and knowledgeable attorney to assist you with the disability process, Mr. Weathers is the attorney for you.
