Below is a list of online resources that may be helpful to you and your family. These organizations are dedicated to raising awareness of child safety issues and implementing programs to meet the goal of keeping kids safe and healthy.

Centers for Disease Control & Prevention – The CDC is a federal agency that operates under the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The CDC’s mission is “to protect America from health, safety and security threats.”

Safe Kids Worldwide – A nonprofit organization founded in 1988, Safe Kids Worldwide is dedicated to protecting children and families. To accomplish this goal, Safe Kids Worldwide works with more than 400 organizations across 30 countries.

Medline Plus – MedlinePlus is administered through the National Institute of Health. This website contains information regarding medical conditions, current research, clinical trials, and more.

Children’s Safety Network – Children’s Safety Network, also known as CSN, works with state health departments to promote injury prevention and facilitate research. This organization also strives to educate and train public health professionals on how to prevent violence and preventable injuries.

American Academy of Pediatrics – Founded in 1930, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is dedicated to promoting health among infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Members of the AAP include more than 66,000 doctors, pediatricians, and surgical specialists.

Parents.com – Parents.com is a website designed to help parents raise healthy children. This organization also publishes magazines such as Parents, FamilyFun, American Baby, and Parents Latina.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – This section of the NHTSA’s website addresses specific dangers children may face in motor vehicles, including auto accidents, seat belts, and heatstroke.

Child Safety Network – Child Safety Network provides parents and others with news updates concerning child safety issues that arise on a daily basis.

Child Safety Experts – Child Safety Experts contains safety tips in areas such as cars, food, household products, school, toys, and travel.

Safe Seats 4 Kids – Safe Seats 4 Kids is part of AAA Exchange’s initiative to promote car seat safety among young children. This website contains valuable information regarding car seat inspections, registration, and recalls.

Tennessee Department of Children’s Services – The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services regularly investigates child abuse, and this website provides instructions for reporting child abuse or neglect.
