Three Dead and Nineteen Injured following Knoxville, Tennessee School Bus Accident

On December 2, 2014, two (2) school buses crashed in Knoxville, Tennessee, causing three (3) deaths and injuries to nineteen (19) other people, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. The accident occurred at the intersection of Asheville Highway and Gov. John Sevier Highway in East Knoxville around 3:00 p.m. The two school buses involved in this accident carried students from Chilhowee Intermediate School and Sunnyview Primary School. As a result of the crash, one school bus sustained significant front end damage, and the other school bus flipped completely on its side. One witness described the accident as a “big bang.” Following the bus accident, three (3) individuals were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, while nineteen (19) others were taken to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for treatment.
